In the December Council meeting, Thrumster Business Park received endorsement by all 8 Councillors in attendance for the rezoning application. This milestone marks the beginning of a transformative development in this rapidly growing area, poised to meet the growing needs of local businesses, residents, and the wider community.
The rezoning of a portion of the business park opens the door to a diverse range of opportunities, including new industrial and commercial spaces, and will play a critical role in addressing the shortage of affordable accommodation in the area through innovative housing solutions.
Thrumster’s expanding population and workforce have led to an increasing demand for both commercial spaces and affordable housing. As the region continues to grow, securing housing for essential workers, first-home buyers, and students has become an urgent priority. In response, Thrumster Business Park’s development plan incorporates shop-top housing and serviced apartments, offering a much-needed solution for students, first-time buyers, and visiting professionals. These housing options will provide affordable accommodation close to employment hubs and the Health and Education precinct, reducing commuting times and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
As part of the broader vision for the Thrumster Business Park, we are pleased to announce plans to include an early learning centre within the precinct and are excited to work with the region’s leading provider, Little Learners. The proposed early learning centre will not only provide essential support for families but also contribute to the creation of local jobs, further strengthening the community’s economic foundation.
With the commencement of commercial construction, Thrumster Business Park will not only meet the needs of the local economy but also contribute to the creation of a more connected, sustainable, and thriving community.
“We are thrilled with the outcome of the vote,” said Trevor Groeneveld, Managing Director for Thrumster Business Park. “The unanimous approval reflects a shared vision for a stronger, more prosperous future for Thrumster and surrounding areas. This project is not just about building infrastructure—it’s about building a sustainable and thriving community.”
